💜 October is Rett Syndrome awareness month 💜
This month we celebrate the joy, unconditional love and endless beautiful memories that our Rett persons give us.
What is Rett Syndrome?
Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls, more rarely in boys, and leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the child’s life: their ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily.
Rett syndrome occurs worldwide in 1 of every 10,000 female births and is even rarer in boys.
This month $5 from every Mimi blanket sold will go to the Rett Syndrome Association of Australia Inc.- RSAA towards a much needed cure for Rett. RSAA is a not-for-profit organization managed by a Committee of volunteers. The Association seeks to enhance the quality of life for persons with the syndrome and their families.
You can also make a donation directly to Rett Syndrome Association of Australia by going to their website https://rettaustralia.org.au/donate/
RSAA have been working to get the advanced gene therapy treatment for Rett Syndrome to be available in Australia. Currently they have dosed a patient in Canada with gene therapy, with very positive and exciting results.
Sofia and I are very thankful for all the amazing support we have received and keep receiving.
Thank you 🙏
